I walked into a local music store today, and staring me down was a Mesa Boogie Mark I. I have an F-50 and have always wanted a Mark I. I just have a few questions that you guys can possibly help me out with.

    1) It has the "MESA/BOOGIE" logo on it, not the "Boogie" logo like the re-issue ones. Does this mean that this one isn't a re-issue?

    2) What is the difference between the originals and the re-issues?

    3) Is $1,284 with tax a good price?

    4) Anyone want to buy a Mesa Boogie F-50? :rotflmao

Any who, despite everything, the thing sounds amazing. I have never fallen in love with an amp like this. Even if it's a re-issue and isn't a good deal, I'll probably finish off the payment for it. I put a down payment on it today to insure that no one grabs it out from under me. Just thought I'd go to here because most of you know what you're talking about. :p

    Thanks,
    Will

I have a version of it with my TriAxis. The Mark I sound is super liquid, and juicy.

I'd just reference the price on ebay. Check the completed listings box when you do an advanced search.

IIRC the originals also had "Boogie" labels on them. Did it have dymo labels on the back? A volume 1 and Volume 2?

I tried that. All I could find is one Mark I. And this one had the "Boogie" logo and was a re-issue. That is why i was thinking this one with the "MESA/BOOGIE" logo might be an original.

I did have a volume 1 and 2 and had an input 1 and 2. And yes, all the controls on the back had dymo labels. Does this mean it was an original?

I used to own an original, and the logo just said "Boogie".

Aww, that's a downer. I was hoping to get a good deal on this. I'm going to get a serial number on it next time I'm down there. Let me know if anyone can date the number.

The old Boogie logo was three color, the new one two IIR.

My guess from that page is that it's an original. I just called the store up and got the serial number from him. He might have mistaken the "H" for a "B".

Weird. My s/n doesn't have extra zeros, just an A & 4 digits.

It is a reissue. My Mark I RI's serial number begins with H0 as well. Another way to tell is to see if the faceplate says "Mark I" below the standby switch, only the reissues have that. The logo was probably changed by a previous owner or it was ordered that way from the factory.

Ahh. Thanks ayeron. Very helpful post. I do remember seeing "Mark I" under the switches, which indeed makes it a Re-issue.

So, do y'all think $1284 is a good deal with a flight case? It's also in pristine condition.

I sold my mint Mark I reissue on eBay for $950 at the beginning of this year.

It's a pretty nice case. I'd say about $150. The only reason I'm willing to pay slightly more is because I feel it's worth $100 to play it before I buy it. I could get one slightly cheaper on eBay, but I'd have no clue what I was getting. And I am a firm believer in "not all manufactured products are the same." I've had several incidents where I chose one out of a batch that was magical. This amp is magical. Call me fickle if you want, it's just how I see things.

For sure a Reissue, all the reissues had "H" serial numbers. Its probably overpriced somewhat but I always expect to pay more for a brick and mortar sale. If it speaks to you though, you pretty much have to get it. :D

Mark 1's are killer clean machines. Don't expect the gain you get from the F50 though.

Gimme my ( original) Mark 1 and a BB Preamp and I'm pretty happy. :D

Why didn't they put the graphic EQ in the reissues? Seems like a dumb move to me.
