Mesa master volume

The master volume on this Mesa DC5 goes from silent to practically full blast on 1 or 2 on the dial.
Is there a way to get a more gradual volume taper? Perhaps replace the pot with a different kind?
I recall this was an issue on hot rod deluxes that was supposedly fixed on the new models with a more gradual taper pot.

Any ideas?

Yes, there is a resistor, right near the volume pot you can remove that will help with the issue. It won't make it perfect, but it does help with the sudden jump in volume.

I'll see if I can find a link that shows you which resistor it is, but it is a pretty popular mod, so you should be able to do a web search and find the info too.

Ok, ya I did a search and found a thread detailing the removal of a resistor on the output volume. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Update on this old thread...
I did the mod, it was really easy. It helped quite a bit. The master volume is a lot more usable at low volumes now.
