I have read what could find on these and am not real clear on the tonal differences of each. I get the message "they are different animals" but that does not tell me much. What musical styles are each best suited for?

These two amps can do anything. Both of them

It all comes down to the signature sound of each amp.

Do you like the sound of the Rectifier or the Mark?

They can both do blues, they can both do metal.

You gotta own both dude.

looking for great clean with depth. Just braking lead tone that excels and passable classic rock rhythm. All with a nice reverb.

I agree. I have a Mark V and a mini rec. Both have great, but different clean and crunch tones. The biggest difference is in my opinion are metal tones. The rec sounds meaner and wilder than the V. The V, while brutal, is smoother or more polite on channel 3.

The correct answer, as stated below, is to own both :) Flip a coin to decide which one you buy first. Actually, scratch that. Find a used mini rec and then get a the mini v.
