Hi, Has anyone tried upgrading there OT,PT,and choke in their Mesa Nomads? Was their any noticeable improvements, and was it worth the expense? Thanks in advance>

I should add that I`m wondering if the clean headroom improves noticeably!

Have you noted the resistor network used in the power supply of the Nomad? You might improve head room some by experimenting with a more conventional circuit.

Sorry but I`m a novice when it comes to actually working on the amp itself. Could you elaborate about the resistor network/power supply. Thanks.

Yes I could but I would suggest you get the schematic and look it over. Since you've indicated you have limited knowledge of electronics and so forth perhaps you should start by experimenting with different preamp and power amp tubes. Mesa uses high quality transformers and tends to have more than adequate power supply filtering. Trying different speakers and again tubes can give you many different sonic choices.

    Just bumping this one along.
I own a nomad also and am thinking theres something in it Im not quite getting out of it.
Any one done any mods to a Nomad?
Sorry jads57 if it looks like Im highjacking your thread.
I think we're looking for similar things.
I converted mine from a combo to a head and had some success running it through different cabs. 212 and 412.

The reason I`m wondering about the transformers is that after trying both Badcat and Bogner Shiva amps, it seems they have very large transformers in them for a two power tube(50-60 watt) amp.And this seems to translate into a bigger overall sound.

Ive thought along the same lines and it was a Bad Cat that lead me there.
But I think theres probably a bit more to it.
Doesnt seem like anyone has bothered doing any mods to this amp.
I think we maybe the only two that have kept them:jo
