I have a tweed Blues Jr. that is an early version (MIA) that I can trade at a local store for a Mesa Studio 22+. Anyone have experience with the Mesa and would that be a good trade?

I've read that the Studio 22+ is quite noisy at volume. My experience when I owned a Studio 22+ would back this up. Sounded like there was a hair dryer in the room. Nice tone though.

Its definitely a more versatile amp than the BJr but its a very different sound too..

This thread should read: WOW...... I just traded a blues jr. for a Mesa Studio 22+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless it's one of the studio 22's with a lot of heat damage, that would be
the trade of the century.

I had a Mesa 22+ that was not noisy other than some low level hiss that is common with these amps. If the noise is loud the amp needs servicing.

I didn't really like mine until I swapped the speaker with an Eminence Private Jack and removed the tone shift capacitor which is automatically switched in on the lead mode. Both of these mods reduced mids.

I'd take one over a Blues Jr, but they are very different amps.
