Does anyone else ever get a strong metal taste in their mouths when playing guitar? It seems to be more present than ever these days. No I don't play with my teeth or play tasty licks using my tongue!

Any ideas where this may come from or how to avoid it? It's getting pretty annoying.

    Thanks for the help!

Ground issue? Sounds like you are getting mildly electrocuted.

    Wow. Interesting.

I have no idea. Maybe an electrical short? Is it just one guitar or is it any electric guitar. Also, has it happened to someone else playing your guitar?
    :dunno

Then you've got some sort of chemical/medical issue. Sorry to hear.

@time2kill , you know nobody has mentioned it, but I don't have many people playing my guitars. I don't change strings often, and normally wipe them down after playing. Oh and it's happening on at least 2 of them.

I have no idea. Hopefully somebody can come up with something.

On a serious note, it may be a sinus infection. That or your house has a higher than ordinary electromagnetism thang going on. Other symptoms would be headaches, vertigo, and paranoia.

It only happens when I play, though. Wouldn't a sinus infection just be a constant?

Are you positive it’s only when you play guitar or is that just when you notice it? I’d hate to think it’s a medical issue but I’d start paying really close attention all the time to make sure. If it persists, I’d talk to a doc and get some bloodwork done.

Hmm, I thought you might have been grinding a bit while playing.

Are you on a keto style diet?

Could be diabetes. I'd go talk to a doctor.

I’m not a doctor, but it sounds like some sort of allergy. I’ve known people with allergies to particular woods and metals. The metal ones are more contact-based, but the wood ones are through the nose/lungs. It doesn’t have to be the guitar. It could be the case or the room you’re practicing in.

It may be a sensory / neurological thing stimulated by the positions and exertions in your fingers, hands and wrists required to play?

I’d probably get checked by a doctor, this sounds weird.

@MisterBoh Certianly not diabetic, had tests for other things recently and all that checked out and not on a Keto diet either. But I do need to ask the doctor.
