Anyone have any clues as to this gents set-up?
Dunno, but the Dirty Three are amazing.
Don't know for sure, but a perusal of Youtube shows him with marshall head & quad & also with what seems to be a twin. Seems to be using a Telecaster Deluxe (with the Wide Range HBs) now but when they first started he always seemed to have a semi-hollowbody.
When I first saw this band live (at a Jazz club called The Basement, supporting a Jazz trumpeter/singer Vice Jones in 93/94) I was actually far more interested in Warren Ellis' setup - he played his violin thru a half dozen stomp boxes & went into a 60s (i think) blond or brown Fender head & 2 x 12 - may have been a Bandmaster. Blew our socks off! I had never heard a violinist with distortion or playing power chords before. Saw them a fair few times in the couple of years after that in a more "rock" setting & they were always amazing. Hypnotic.
I've been planning to learn the violin solo (on the guitar though) on "Everythings F****d" for ages - now that's a solo!!
Warren's rig with the Bad Seeds would be very cool too.......
Mick owns a vibro-king. I'm sure that's not the only thing he uses tho.
I did a tour with him couple years ago, but he played keys.
great guy with a wicked sense of humor.
I thought y'all might dig this:
I'm just looking for what pedals & guitars, magic wands etc
Agreed! LOVE the Dirty Three and love Warren with the Bad Seeds (which I'm seeing this week by the way!!)
