MIDI Octopus alternatives?

Anyone know of products around that do what the old
Rockman MIDI Octopus did? Want to use a midi controller
to key things on and off in my rig. Don't necessarily need
loops key'd in and out as much as just latched device configs.
The Octopii seem kinda pricey, I've gotta believe someone
else has designed something similar that is less costly. This
really isn't a rocket science kinda idea in the current day and
age (like it was when the MO came out).

Custom Audio Electronics (CAE) makes (or used to make) a product called an RL8, which I think was very similar to the Octopus. Eight on/off switches controlled via MIDI. A 2nd hand MIDI Octopus would probably be the least expensive route.

No kidding, that RJM stuff is pricey. I need to start designing this
sorta stuff if that's what people are able to get for them. No
offense to the people building these things, I know they're trying to
make a living, and if they can get what they ask, they should.

I"ll check out the CAE RL8 and the Patchmate. Thanks for the leads.

I'd sell you a MIDI octopus (in a rack with the "remote loop" also)

PM me if you are interested

The Mini Amp Gizmo looks interesting, but I still think that the Rockman MIDI Octopus is more versatile.

For example, what if you want to switch multiple functions at once? With the MIDI Octopus, you can run any combination of functions. I don't think you can with the Amp Gizmo though. I think it's only one function at a time.
