Good news, as far as I'm concerned.
Avi owned the B-52 amp line. Interesting he has Soldano now. Ive got his email somewhere. Anybody know anything about models & price points yet or too early ?
This is fantastic news. I've admired Mike and his amps since the 80s. I've always wanted a SLO, but never got one. Now, I'll be very happy to have a Hot Rod 25.
Is there any news about this acquisition online yet or is it just word of mouth? It seems too good to be true. lol
What’s your source?
Avi owns BAD & he's definitely done a deal with Michael Soldano, just like he's done a deal with the other Brands he owns / is manufacturing etc. That's a lock.
Wonder if Dave Friedman will be Lead Engineer in charge of SLO design tweaks.
Seriously tho if the SLO is still $4500 im out of the race.
Just curious as to how you know “...he’s definitely done a deal with Michael Soldano,...”.
I think you mean Bruce Egnater
Nope i meant Dave.
I know Dave worked with Bruce years ago.
Ive heard nothing but complaints about the SLO loop for years.
Likely a few other things could be tweaked like a 1/2 power switch and other stuff.
I would like an SLO with EL-34's.
You should do more research on that...
I would bet BAD isn't going to change the SLO by much if at all.
Seems Mike would have a say in that as part of the deal.
1/2 POWER: it's an option. Personally I think it's usefulness on tubes amps is minimal. Only a few db in reduction...not worth it IMHO.
EL34s: TONETALK video Dave Friedman laments the lack of QC for those tubes. Unlike the 5881s.
I used the SED =C='s til they were extinct. Been using the Tungsol EL-34B's with great success 5 years now. Everything SED were & more IMO.
Sino/TAD makes okay EL-34's too. I wouldn't have problems getting tubes short term.
Dave used JJ a long time. I never liked them for the reasons he eventually dumped them.
He has no source. They also produce the scourge of tube amps, Morgan.
Not even BBQ?
We have a winner. I knew you guys would make some phone calls and figure it out. I was told in confidence so I couldn’t say who. Like I said Soldano and company is in good hands.
I agree I think he’s going to leave the legendary SLO alone BUT may expand.
