I'm getting ready to finish a birdseye bass neck and am worried the headstock has been sanded down too thin.
It had a crack through the tuner holes, repaired by who knows and painted over to hide the repair. So I think too much sanding was probably done there.
I measure it at 9/16" over most of the headstock but as little as 1/2" in one area. The different thickness don't bother me if overall it is able to handle the stresses put on it.
What options are available to me if this thing is too thin? I don't mind a little handiwork and I have tools and moderate skills.
