My DAW trajectory:

1. Audacity (not a DAW)
2. GarageBand (is what it is)
3. Reaper (I am officially an idiot- could not work it)
4. Mixcraft 6- Perfect!

Making things happen now! Having a great time with VST instruments and working with my acoustic guitar tracks.

Will this work as 'training wheels' so that I may someday actually understand reaper? I noticed that they both 'arm' tracks, at least.

OR- is Mixcraft all a home/hobbyist really needs anyhow?

In any event, I'm making music and having a blast!

If you are similarly situated, what have you made work, and how?

Can't answer your questions, but I'm glad you posted this!

I am looking for a music making solution that is more making music and less technical gobbledy-gook. So I will definitely look into Mixcraft.
Seemed WAY less techie than Reaper to me.

And reaper is supposed to be simple compared to Pro Tools and a few others.
