Would upgrading to the Yamaha MG124cx with compression and effects be a big differnce over my yamaha mg10/2 which has no effects and no compression?

does the reverb work on the mixers with effects and would compression add a bunch or should i just stick with what I have. I dont need the additional inputs yet but they could come in handy someday..

You'd get compression and effects and two extra channels. Most singers like a little bit of reverb. Compression isn't that important. Really only you can answer as to whether you want the effects or not. If this is for a band, I'd get something with more mic inputs.

Unless you have a an already loud singer that doesn't pull the mic away from his mouth when does big Dave Coverdale screams. Nice to have some compression to limit that without taking people's ears out.

And a little delay or reverb really smooths out a singers voice... that never hurts either in moderation.
