I got to spend two hours with it, but will be working late as a result!
Caveat: I'm a corksniffer re: acoustics, electrics, OD's, and some amps. I'm not so corksnifferish re: modulation. However, I've owned vintage 80's boss and ibanez, as well as recent stuff from sweet sound, lovepedal, retrosonic, DLS, and analogman. As well as some rack stuff from Lexicon and TC, which I never liked and never bothered learning because the digital chills had me by the throat.
I really like this pedal. First impressions:
- the overall tone is musical and full. Not aware of any digital chills.
- it is deep: you can program all day (all life). Fast reviews like this are useless. Why do I do it? What's wrong with me?
- you probably want a 3 way footswitch and an expression pedal with it (I have both)
- there are many presets/user spaces:40! Twice what's in my Timefactor.
- all the bases are covered, everything sounded about right
- Trem sounds great
- Vibe sounds better than I expected. I don't really like the seasick brigde of puke thing, but this box gives you a lot more options
- it has a lot of freaky tones that could keep you programming all day for recording and for midi control. I'll do this a little, but I'm more likely to set up 10 presets I like that sound more like 60's-70's tones, and then tweak hairier sounds as needed when recording
- Rotary is good, but the presets vary.
- the fast/slow and expression pedals really stretch the sounds available.
Anyway, I think it's da bomb. $399, geez. YMMV. Interested to hear what rack Eventide and Mod freaks think.
