Marshall JTM45 RI or Mojo kit?
Which one has better tone? Is the Mojo superior in quality?

Mojo Kit. You'll save a ton of money. You might contact Mike Marsh at marsh amps. He does good kits.

    I'm curious about these myself

I believe that Sligo uses the mojo kits and sells them assembled

A friend built me a Mojo kit. It sounds excellent. Right now I have Svetlana EL34s in it. I like EL34s. They give this amp a bitey, quacky, honky tone. With a Les Paul I'm getting Page/Jeff Beck. Its very touch sensitive. Good sustain. Very organic sounding.
Between my friend and I, we have a dozen vintage Marshall amps. So we know what good Marshall tone is.:AOK

Talk with George at Metro Amp (www.metroamp.com). Read the forum there. I just ordered his JTM45 kit after researching Mojo, Weber, Ceriatone, etc.

    Sly,

I 'm glad your happy with the amp. Sorry it took so long to build. As you know I had alot going on in the past 4 weeks. You know, if you didn't keep that amp I was keeping it for myself!!! I'll see you later.

I just finished a build of George's JTM45 kit and love it. George is a great guy to deal with too.

there's some good clips of the mojo 45 at the metroforum. but the mojo kit doesn't have a RS deluxe type OT like a real jtm45

The Metro kit and the Mojo kit share the same O/T, Heyboer. Now, George does offer upgraded transformers for all his kits. I'll probably build his 45 kit next, although I was happy with the sound of the Mojo kit.

I thought the mojo OT had a lower primary (3,4k or so) than the metro heyboer OT (8k)

How would the different transformers change the tone?

8k - cleaner, but less headroom - good for kt66s
3,4 - more mids and gain - good for el34s

George at metro amp has been working on a Radio Spares De-Luxe OT replica. He is having one handwound for me for my kit. It will be generally available in the near future on his website.

You are correct sir. The 45 kit I built from Mojo is actually very clean until you push it to around 7 on the volume. It has the tranny set to be used with EL34's

BTW, I too like to deal with George at Metro, he is a nice guy and very helpful. As a matter of fact it was his instructions that came with a PTP board I bought from him, that I used for the Mojo 45 build.
