What is the value of Y?
Y = Assess your needs/wants, take your time and try out a bunch of different gear. No need to rush into anything because of available money being part of the equation.
That said, I am selling an AVRI Fender Jaguar with G&L MFD pickups.
With "no idea what to buy," there is no "gear" that's the focus of your generic acquistional desires.
Therefore Y = 0.
Great problem to have!!
Not advocating hoarding here, but I find there is always something you still need.
Perhaps if you'd share a gear list we'd have a starting point....
if your looking for something to keep long term, how it looks WON'T hold up to you if it plays crummy or you just don't bond with it, just something to keep in mind as drooling over the pure looks of a guitar can and will cloud your judgement!
Y = Something you will regret...and sell for less down the road
My rule for gear purchases is that if I don't feel like I really need it, I don't spend the money.
Well... if you REALLY have GAS, you need to buy something right away to make it go away. I suggest a really loud amp that will get you evicted or get the neighbors to call the cops.
That's always good for a great "pub" story...
Y = music lessons
is that an Agile?
Bank it and wait for that magical moment at the guitar show!
yep. the CSBF i've been lusting after.....
I found it, I present "Y" -
Just buy a few pedals!
Small, wont break your bank, and can be something new and cool.
That's not "y"
I found out what my Y equals.
I'm getting an ampeg vt40 top loaded. Needs a servicing and, i'm probably paying a little more than I need to for it, but it's vintage and once it's fixed up i'll be all set.
Currently it has two Weber Ferromax 10F150 speakers. Anyone know what ohms those are? If I was to get two other speakers (affordable with good low end) to make it 4 speakers in total, what would you guys reccomend?
Fallacious thinking going on here.
'then I'll be set' No, only until your next GAS.
'vintage'...Ok, the Ampeg is old, so what?
Correct on the g.a.s. As for the 'vintage', it will be easier to sell than anything boutique where i live if i want to flip, plus it sounds killer. Plus i've got a topnotch tech who is going to work on it for me.
