Bought DR Pro 36" Monitor Stands. Need to fill them with sand to keep things stable.

I have read that I need to use "kiln dried" sand to avoid moisture ruining the stands. Agree/disagree?

Can't find "kiln dried" sand at local Home Depot/Loews...any suggestions?
    Live in central NJ.

    Thank you.

You can also use shot-it's less messy than sand.

When I put sand in my monitor stands I just bought play sand (clean!) and poured it into plastic bags that I had already placed in the stand cavities and tied up the ends.

Really surprised my movers who just couldn't wait for me to explain before they grabbed them wrong and the bottom came off. :p

You can also use aquarium rock, but that might get pricey...

    Tonekat,

How did you get the bags into the stand cavities? Did you take off the pieces of particle board and the staples?

    Thanks
