More Heart content-Recording quality!

The recent Heart thread got me listening to some old stuff. Heart had the most amazing recording quality. So clean and pure. Who or what is responsible for that?

There's this studio up in Seattle on 4th where they used to record.

I remember reading about the first record, and they said they worked in a studio that had a lot of "old" tube gear, which was probably from the 60's, at that point in time, and they claimed that's why it sounded so good.

Funny, because the state-of-the-art solid-state stuff back then was Neve, Trident and API, which is still considered the benchmark for recording gear.

That first album was recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver on an Ampex 16-track.

I have to agree - a most excellent album - the songs are beautiful - especially the title track.

Yes, Mushroom Studios is still here in Vancouver. A lot of good bands were recorded at Mushroom incluidng BTO, Heart, Loverboy, Ringo Starr, and Queensryche. Movies also like Top Gun.
