    Feeling nostalgic today I guess.
Here are a couple of my tunes recorded w/ the late-great Nick Brignola.
My main man and the reason I got myself into this mess....
The first one is really straight ahead and the 2nd a little more adventurous.

BTW, band on the first tune other than Nick and me: Eddie Gomez-Bass, Bill Stewart-Drums

    2nd tune: John Pattitucci-Bass Billy Hart-Drums and Dave Pike-vibes.

    Chuck

edit: and the tune I wrote and dedicated to him after his passing, "Birdhouse" from the CD "Under the Hood" w/ drummer Art Bernstein and me. And in the tradition of bebop it's written off the changes of another tune "Donna Lee" which in turn was written off "Back Home in Indiana."
    Nick Brignola was a giant!

Glad you're posting this stuff Goomba ...
think I'll repeat what I said it your other clip & ask the same pertinent question ..

This aspect of your playing is the 'tutto elegante" - 'grazioso' -
    ala sophisticated side of cdaloia...

So with cusped hand moving up and down I ask,
how does one say Masterful in wap ....??

    Thanks guys,
    I appreciate it!
Hard to believe there was actually a time when I almost made a living playing this stuff.
Of course it was because of Nick. He was the Downbeat poll winner as well as a grammy nominee. A bebop monster. Very inspiring and educational to stand next to him and listen night after night. Now that's music school.........

killing chuck. nick was a total monster- what an incredible opportunity it must've been to play with a master of improvised music. it's a shame that he couldn't get any heavies to record with him. :D i've been wanting to hear the recordings that you did with him so thanks a bunch for posting these clips.

Jack, glad you dig him and check the OP. edit: Oh wait, you're kidding? yea, lame rhythm sections...haha Didn't see the smiley...oops
Yes, a great experience. I would post other stuff but only felt comfortable w/ my tunes.
He also recorded w/ Dave Holland and Jack D. "On a Different Level"
About 10 recordings on Reservoir and won the Downbeat poll, etc........
Also recordings w/ Pepper Adams, Bill Watrous, on and on

Superb - there's a section in the second piece with some pedal tones which works so well - all good, though! :bow
