Why didn't anyone tell me about these sooner?

I scored a NOS one for a smokin' deal today and it sounds incredible through my JCM 800!

I'm still on the 'honeymoon' so I don't know if it's going to stand the test of time but there are definitely some very useable tones in this lil black box, and it seems very dynamic.
If it ends up working out, I might seek another.

Does anyone else have any experience with this unit?
    How about running it direct?

I got this one with no instuction manual but it's fairly straight forward

Mine is the older one pictured which reportedly has less gain than the newer Mk2 Award version which they say can handle "Nu-metal"

Now, I think it has plenty of gain for my applications but I haven't got to run it through all of it's paces just yet.
Running through the front end of my JCM800 it has more gain than I need.

I wasn't really seeking one of these but I found a NOS one for a blowout deal at a music stor that was closing so i said "what the heck" and I grabbed it.

    No love I guess...

I've been playing with this thing all day and it just keeps gettin' better!
Subtle EQ adjustments make a lot of difference.
My g/f like the fact that I caqn use it as a headphome amp while she's trying to sleep. ;)

I still have a JD20 version around here somewhere. It's the same pedal but with a second foot-switch button for the Rock/Classic function.

I've never used it in front of a guitar amp, only for recording direct in the pre-modeling days. Maybe I should dig it out again and give it another spin.

Some info on these pedals can be found on the maker's web site - Award-Session

I've heard other people make it sound great - including the exact unit I bought used. I just can't seem to get anything out of it. I'm not an accurate enough tweaker, I guess. I blame myself, not the pedal, since I know how good it can sound.

Huh...I figured there'd be more love for them here.
You can get some good sounds out of it with very minor adjustment.
