McDonalds: Ketchup Packet. You get one. Extra charge for more.

Chinese Take-Out: Duck Sauce. All the soy and hot mustard you want, with only enough Duck Sauce to barely coat one end of the egg roll.

Subway: Napkin. One napkin per customer. Period.

The other day I got 3 napkins at a Subway and I walked around the rest of the day like I had won the lottery. I feel sorry though for the employee who got fired for giving out 2 extra napkins and de-stabilizing the entire financial structure of Doctor's Associates.

Funny, I don't have any of those restrictions here. I did hear the other day at a McD's someone ask for extra sauce for their McNuggets and were charged for the sauces. Anytime, anyone I have been with has asked however they have never been charged. Subway has a despenser I can take as many napkins as I want. As far as Duck sauce goes, there is a ton when I order takeout and I didn't even order Duck!! I always ask for extra sweet and sour and am obliged with a 4 oz. cup generally.

I always figured that with fast food, the ultimate cost was to your health.

    Just kidding.

We have a fast-food Chinese restaurant that does the same thing. I could grab 2 hand-fulls of soy sauce - and it would be no problem. But, ask for extra shrimp sauce and it cost $0.25 for each container.

I'd bet that iced tea is the real cash cow.

'Round here, condiments, as much as you want tend to be free. Arby's used to be tight fisted with their delicious broncoberry sauce. I love that stuff on jalapeno poppers!

If you're referring to the self-serve dispenser, it comes as a syrup concentrate, just like the other soft drinks. Same cost.

Girl at my Arby's gives me so much Bronco, ketchup and horseradish at times I'm just like WTF, I've got that stuff in fridge at work, fridge at home and at times just throw it away.

But yes the napkins at Subway must be made of unobtanium laced fibers.

You can thank greedy selfish a-holes who grab handfuls of ketchup packets to take home, rather than buying a bottle.

One time I saw a woman refilling a ketchup bottle from the dispenser in McDonalds. WTF????

I'm sure the quantities dispensed are dictated by the franchise owner. If you've ever owned a business, you're keenly aware (and not flippant about the fact) that everything costs money, including a single ketchup packet or napkin. My policy would be one per customer unless they specifically ask for more.

The casino near here used to have baskets of little cream cheese containers, peanut butter, little jars of jam sitting out with the other condiments. You can imagine how many mega purses were filled with those and taken back to the old folks home. I miss the cream cheese myself...
