what other pedals are transparent like the timmy that are warm and dont have a real bright tone?
Are you asking because you find the Timmy too bright? If so, are you aware that the Timmy’s tone controls are cuts and not boosters?
I love the Amp11, sounds very different from a Timmy. It seems warmer and rounder to me.
Menatone Red Snapper. The OG- even before Timmy was a twinkle in Paul’s eye.
Do you want transparent or do you want warm?
No. I love the tone of the timmy. Asking because I've seen people mention the greer lightspeed and they say its real bright and I'm not looking for teal bright
Both if possible.
A Klon...a real one.
It’s the reason it got famous.
I have owned two and gigged over 10 yrs with a silver one and nothing I’ve ever played was as transparent and organic or harmonically rich.
It’s really a shame what happened. The Klones don’t do what a real one does and working musicians have been priced out.
The Klon is not really transparent, it has a mid-hump (rather pleasant and well-rounded, not at all like the ts9 mid-hump) and has a slightly darker tone character. It's absolutely fabulous and I prefer to use a klon variant instead of a transparent od, but this is not really what the OP has asked.
I'd like to push for the expression coined by Peter Kendall Warren for this kind of pedals: articulate
Essentially every Way Huge pedal would qualify here. MXR are to some extent as well.
OCD in LP mode with gain low.
Boss BD2 in stock form below 1 or 2 o’clock. It really doesn’t get more transparent than that IMHO.
That’s now how distortion works.
Nobels ODR-1 cuts a bit of high end even with the spectrum knob all the way up, but that's pretty transparent. little bass bump, but XTS will reduce that for you if you get one of the minis.
i've been using that for a long time because Nashville, but i recently went over to a Border Gain Changer which i really like. my plan was to spend my last tour A/Bing them onstage to get a feel, but i never turned the Nobels on. they're both cool, and luckily, cheap!
i've tried the Klon stuff and felt like it changed the overall character a bit more. that being said, i'm needlessly picky about this. it might even be better, who knows. the GC does have some EQ options which is nice.
This is horse sh*t and the real reason prices are through the roof- inaccurate mythology spread by present or past users of the original.
Snouse Black Box?
To be more precise, it's Centaur sh*t. Centaur sh*t has a more pronounced mid-range smell than regular horse sh*t. LOL
To the OP: the Emerson Em-Drive is the most transparent drive pedal I've ever come across.
So are you asking for a neutral EQ’d OD pedal with smoother (warm not bright) distorted sounds when dialed in for some clipping?
Are you looking for a fairly neutral OD pedal that has a warm sound to its basic tonal footprint even without the gain / drive knob dialed in to make the pedal distort?
Tchula is pretty transparent, and by that I mean it's more of your guitar into your amp, same core sound--just more snarl--but still transparent and warm. Or the Analogman modded BD-2. Nothing is more transparent than that.
