True bypass pedal with no circuit inside
This may be what Im looking for
What about the fragrance of a fresh pile of centaur $hit? Does it's oD side have a transparent oDer?
I use a TS for warmth and the Analogman Silver mod makes things more HiFi-ish, so maybe a TS-9 Silver Mod is in order (if the OP wants both qualities?).
I have to agree with several others recommending the Emerson Em Drive.
I agree that the term transparent is so misused in the pedal effects world. I even tried finding the correct definition of transparent as to its application herein. Unfortunately, I could not. If by using the term transparent, we really mean neutral, then you can't have that and warm at the same time, imho.
Anyway, back to the Em Drive. It only has two knobs, Volume & Gain. Tone is not needed as it is very neutral in that regard.
He's 100% right @woof* "you've owned (past tense) two Klons, you gigged for 10 years with one" but they were so great you sold them¿? Yeah man, sorry but that makes no sense.
IMO Klons are decent but definitely not close to stand alone great. They're extremely dependent on what you have before & after them if you want them to sound good. They don't even sound decent let alone good on their own unless you run the volume up & the gain almost off but at that point you just have a clean boost. Almost any OD will give you the exact same thing you're just boosting the signal.
God this might be the most TGP thread yet. “Bloozeman” asks for a pedal “warm” and “transparent”, even more so than the one pedal renowned for its “warmth and transparency”.
Lunastone Blue Drive can do ya nicely.
Volume above unity, gain set around 9 o'clock, a BD-2 is the best too me.
MXR Distortion+ ??? set way down low???
The whole OverDrive "thing" on TGP seems like episodes of 'Kung Fu'!
The Paul Lynde Show is much more entertaining and funny.
With all due respect, it might be due to my gear, but I don't consider the BD-2 transparent.
I bought one, for it has been so lauded over the years. I personally dislike the clipping signature. You can hear it even with the drive knob cranked down. EQ-wise, right, it is transparent though.
At the end of the day, I don't know of an OD pedal more transparent than the Timmy, and don't think it is possible (what is more transparent than transparent?).
FWIW... the BD2 is the only pedal that I have ever played (other than the Timmy) where you can turn it on and find a combined setting with all three knobs that have zero impact on your guitar/amp sound. Hence being known as transparent.
YMMV clearly applies here.
There you go. Problem solved.
The latest Barber Gain Changer and Greer Lightspeed
Damn you're salty bro. Did you lose a gig or a girl to a guy that had a Klon?
As far as transparent pedals like the Timmy, I'd go LightSpeed or Red Snapper.
Ha! No, but I thought TGP was past the “Klones sounds nothing like the real thing” rhetoric. It’s up there with the flat earth argument in terms of absolute ridiculousness.
Well yes, Klones have come a long way but all the ones I've used are in the trash! (Except the Aluminum Falcon V1)
And What's silly about Flat Earth?
A Timmy , don’t be afraid to use that tone knob.
Sit down, Squatch. We need to talk about Santa Claus too..
