Most unique 90’s guitar tone

Alternative Rock bands took over from the ashes of the outlandish hair metal bands that were corrupted by the music industry machine's push to be "unplugged" ... and back to gritty distortion and fuzz.

Some of the unique bands sounds were due to the vocals as much as any choice of guitarist's fuzz chain.

While their first album came out in 89, John Squire certainly had a unique sound.

Nick McCabe from The Verve also had his own sound.

Kind of shows how much Albini captures what they sound like, as the live cut sounds 'tonally' pretty darn similar on the bass and guitar. Interesting to hear them back to back.

I think Jerry Cantrell and Adam Jones had impeccable tone in the 90's (and still do). Cantrells tone on the Dirt album is still one of my favorites of all time.

If unique is the criteria, hard to see how Morello or Shields don’t win!

I agree with the guy who mentioned Kevin Shield. I'm not a huge fan of My bloody valentine's songs, but his guitar sound was truly amazing and revolutionary.
