MOTU Midi Timepiece Av users respond!!!

I resently purchased a Timepiece AV with Clockworks software and there is no addendum in the manual and customer service sucks. I'm hoping someone can walk me through getting this set up. I'm using Nuendo 2.0, Ensoniq EPS, and Roland VS-880 and wish to get them all to talk to each other.

Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

There's a Clockworks manual from this summer on MOTU's website. Have you looked through that? The Timepiece has a deep setup page, if necessary, but your setup is very basic and you should even need a manual (much less half of what the A/V can do) to get it going. In fact, if memory serves, it was almost plug and play with a couple of simple tweaks of Clockworks. Your software will need to know what's connected to it (EPS and 880). Very easy.

Check the manual, or the help file that came with Clockworks.

If you are using Mac OSX you don't even need Clockworks; the setup is all in the OSX AudioMidi setup utility. (Assuming that you're using the USB MTP AV)

As an 18 year MOTU user, I've found their customer service is excellent, by the way. Sometimes it's hard to get through on the phone, however.

You're absolutely right, Les. I checked the room that's using the Timepiece and it's not running Clockworks at all. It's running OSX (Tiger, to be specific). The setup was almost mindless. Easy. Drag and drop.

Having lost my mind in the last century, the easier things are to set up, the happier what is left of me is. :)

Thanks for your replies, we ended up calling customer service at MOTU and they essentially said that the manual is outdated and that all patching should be done through the recording/sequencing program (which is Nuendo in my case). We spent an entire night looking for a patch screen that the manual shows, and it doesn't even exist on the program anymore. Oh Well.

Is Nuendo 2.0 an old program?

And you have yet to answer the question asking which operating system you're using -- XP? OSX?

I can't believe there's not a way to get this working...

Whatever operating system you have, make sure you have downloaded the latest drivers from MOTU. They are free on the MOTU website.

Your computer needs the drivers to recognize the USB connection, or the serial connection.
