I recently bought a Music Man 1x12 with an Electrovoice speaker. The speaker has a warped voice coil and I`ve decided to replace it rather than re-cone it. I was wanting suggestions from other MM owners (esp 100 1x12) who had changed out the stock speaker. I`m needing a great clean(but with some breakup)in a much lighter speaker - 100wt/8ohm. What do you suggest????

I have one of those in mine- with the phaser. They are great speakers if you can get it repaired but are heavy. Celestion makes the G12K-100, which may work.

I should`ve said I wanted a lighter speaker to reduce the overall weight. I want clean headroom but something that breaks up better than the EV. I play in a 4 piece classic rock cover band.

Try the Jensen Neo 100 12". Great speaker!
Here are a few that I haven't tried that may fit the bill too:
    Eminence Lil' Texas
    Eminance Tonkerlite (more british)
    Weber NeoMag 12" (think JBL)
p.s. I had a MM with 2 EV 12"s. It made a twin seem feather light!

Yes - try out the Jensen Neo; I have one I use with a Bassman head and it has full range. It is 90% "there" ("there" for me is like an SRO in a ported cab = great, fantastic). But the ease of carrying that thing is worth it.

Try it out. If it doesn't work, somebody here will buy it.:AOK

Thanks Beauzooka! I bet lifting that 2x12 MM EV was worse than picking up the front end of a Volkswagon!!!

Exactly! It might as well have been a block of cement. I still miss the built in Phaser on that amp.
