I was doing my normal rounds, when I noticed this on a guitar stand in front of the racks.

I saw the $100 price, but I thought for sure it was an MIM.

Couldn't believe they were asking $100 for it.

Took it to the counter and wanted to haggle because of the scratches and dents around the body.

They said it just came out and they wouldn't budge on the price. I asked for the case and they said it didn't come with one.

I said it should have one, and I wanted a case.

They looked but couldn't find one.

I told them they owed me one, and I be checking back later for one.

    They were OK with that.

I haven't had a chance yet to put is through it's paces, but the neck feels great and it doesn't weight a ton.

I don't normally post a pic of the receipt, but I didn't want anyone to cal BS on me.

Nice score man. Can't beat that. The highway one models are good.

A pawn shop that doesn't Ebay search every guitar they have and add $200 to the highest bid they see? Is this witchcraft?

Eh, in this situation, I wouldn't say they 'owe' you a case, nor would I bother too much considering you just scored such a good deal. But hey, if they have one ready for you when you go back down, that's icing on the cake. Congrats on the new Tele.

You tried to haggle on the price? Really ! Geez, I'd have grabbed it and paid as fast as i could and gotten out of there b4 they realized they basically just gave it to me ! Not into modern USA teles in the least, but at $100 i'd have grabbed it and been laughing all the way to craigslist where i would be asking at least $600.

Seriously lol, a nice grab and everything @Texsunburst59 but if I had a store and you came in with that type of attitude I’d tell your entitled self to walk right back out and never come back. Why would you be so nasty to people who are selling you something for a killer price?

I knew a guy that bought a '51 Tele from someone who clearly didn't know what they had. Asking price was $750.00, the guy talked the seller down to $650 because the guitar had a broken string. The seller went for it.

If you would have waited a year it would have only been $41!

In my pawnshopping experience, that guitar was either stolen or more likely, someone used the pawnshop as a storage unit and forgot to pay the rent.

My gut tells me you are visiting EZ Pawn chains or one of their offshoots. We have 5 locals in the Portland area that I frequent quite often. Crazy deals pop up every once in awhile because the employees don’t know jack about guitars. I bought my USA DEAN for $35 because they thought it was a cheap import. I don’t have the lengthy list like you do, though I’ve definitely had my fair share of scores. I think I paid $240 for my MIA Tele, but I sold it for $800 if I recall.
