I bought this guitar around 1985 when I was a "starving" student. It could be a 84 model or earlier, one of those "lawsuite" models. I payed maybe 175 pounds for it, whilst a Fender cost at least double of that.
It always played great, the wood, workmanship and little "vintage" details are absolutely fantastic. The neck is tight grip, 7,5" radius and the truss rod badly needs adjusting (a banana syndrome) so the action is mighty high and its a bit of bummer to play. But high action means good tone and I love this one:

Great playing and I love that growl thing about 22 seconds into the clip.

I've an assembled strato with Fernandes body, squier neck and am standard pups, but tone is not so thick.

Claudio, the pickups are stock pickups from my 1982 Fender Stratocaster. However, the guitar is naturally bass rich and has an almost jazzy sound in the neck position and tone knob rolled off. The wood is alder I believe. Essentially, these guitars (similarly to the Tokai's of the same period) are very, very well built.

Gary: I love that strat growl too. :)
