I've had the same amp for 30 years ... an original '78 Boogie 60w/100w amp with an EVM-12L in a sealed cabinet. I have truly loved this amp. I'm giving it to my son for his 20th birthday ... today.

An interesting fact is that the chassis was signed by Randall Smith (founder of Mesa/Boogie) on 3/24/78. My son's birthday is on the same day exactly 10 years later ... 3/24/88. He is thrilled! Since he is getting better at playing guitar day-by-day, he needs a proper amp. This will do.

I've always planned on giving it to him. I actually built my first amp in January ...a new Brown Note D'Lite 22/33. I'm comfortable with giving the amp up now. I did not expect to feel THAT good about the D'Lite amp that I built. But it's great! I got a nice matching Brown Note compact 1x12 cab on order (shipped today in fact) and with the G12-65 I already acquired and the 2x10 Emi Legend cab ... I'm set. The reduced weight of all the components is good for my back, as well.

Cool coincidence on the dates. :D

    Congrats, buddy.

Must be very gratifying to see your son loving music like you.

Sure hope he realizes the value of the amp you're passing on to him.

    Best.
