Just got this beauty from a TGP member and I'm in love.
1997 McCarty in McCarty Burst.Wide wavy flame with a lot of mineral streaks and flecks.:dude
A ton of vintage character in this top.:AOK
I took some decent photos of it today and thought I would share 'em.

I've bought and sold 6 PRS guitars over the years - but never had a McCarty. This has given me obscene GAS :/

Plays wonderfully.Feels like home.I like action set a bit on the high side so,I set it up to my taste. The neck is perfect.Chunky but, doesn't feel like a 2 by 4.
Tonally this one simply has it all.
Rings like a bell and has great clarity and defenition.I was surprised that it is a big sounding as my LP's.
After dialing in the pickups all I can say is they ain't leaving this guitar.:nono
They have that classic PAF honk, bite and clarity.:dude
This is the first guitar I've had in 15 years that I don't feel the need to swap pickups, pots or caps.
The only down side is that I now want more.lol
Like a McSoapy and a Hollowbody.

Sean I thought you were a Gibby and Two-Rock guy. Carol Ann was bad enough but now you really have gone over to the darkside with a PRS :) Sweet looking PRS though though very should I say Burstish

from what I've read, the tops of McCarty's use Red Maple specifically, as it is (I believe) the same kind of maple that Gibson used on the early Les Pauls...

Nice McCarty! I had a '97 that I sold on eBay a couple years ago and at first glance, I thought yours was it. I pulled up an old photo of mine and on closer inspection, mine didn't have flecks, so, different guitar. They sure could be siblings though!

I don't remember if the first McCarty I had in the mid 90's had McCarty Model written on the back of the headstock.
My '97 does and non of the recent McCarty' I've played have it written on the back of the headstock.
So,I'm curious to know when this practice started and stopped.

Started in 94 with the birth of McCartys and ended sometime in 97 I believe...

Sean, if you want ANY knowledge about McCarties you can email me because I am your man. I lived and breathed them from 95 when I got my first 2 till only last year. I still have one of my 95's and a McKorina which sounds all too much like VH's hot for teacher and Drop Dead legs.

Lord I love McCartys like this. What a beauty! I don't like the really fancy PRS guitars, but this one takes my breath away. A timeless design with a stunning top and finish.
