Very nice job.

I always liked that solo, also, but just not the effect he was using.

I give you credit for picking such a tasty solo to transcribe. The solo has great note choices, lots of style, great feel and bluesiness to it, which I think is its real charm. When you listen to those 2 bars before he whips out the sextuplets, that little bluesy chord thing is amazing!

Anyway, now that you know what all the notes are, why don’t you see if you can incorporate more of his feel and his approach to the phrases? I think that might be the most valuable takeaway from it.

Anyway, well done. This is the same thing I would tell my sons (if they played) so don’t take it as a criticism, just a suggestion.

Got to see GG with Mangione...probably 20 years ago at the Jazz Bakery...such a wonderful player and one of the most perfect solos of all time!

Nice job!
