I just read in the NY Times yesterday, he uses 60 pedals live. Whoa. They play LOUD, and the video doesn't do it justice. It is a thick sound you can swim in. US tour, first since '91. Yea!

Hi, I'm the one who compiled that list and it looks like I forgot to update that the Fender head is a Tone Master.

As to the Marshalls, here's what his ex-roadie had to say: "Kevin uses a late 60's 100W 1959 Plexi Super lead into 2 Marshall 4x12's and a JTM45 reissue into 2 Marshall 4x12 cabs. Belinda uses a JTM45 reissue into 1 x Marshall 4x12."

The amps though have been changing as the tour rolls along, with them blowing up from the volume they play at.

And finally, here are some very clear (but slightly small) images taken by Stephen O'Malley from the band Sunn O)):

Cool to see the shoegazers using boutiques.

Too many of the post-rock/shoegaze are keeping it to the rv-5 and dl-4. Everything is sounding sterile and predictable in the genres.

Is that an AC-30 head/cab in the photo and video or is that a clone?

The Vox-esque amps are JMI. http://www.jmiamplification.com/

And here's a quote from a recent interview: "Kev notes that, for the band's recent tours, they've spent £200,000-- $366,000 U.S.-- on equipment. He also admits to owning "hundreds" of effects pedals, but only using a mere 30 on stage."

I got an email from Devi Ever that Kevin owns "one of every pedal" from http://www.deviever.com/fx/

I thought that sounded a bit like a Truly Beautiful Disaster...how long has he been using that? Those fuzz tones are huge. Too huge for me, but I'm always interested seeing how people can get musical sounds out of essentially buzzsaw noise. Didn't MBV use the old Shin-ei companion fuzz for a long time or am I thinking of someone else?

When I hear Shin-ei I think of The Jesus and Mary Chain, not MBV.

Here's his old board according to his guitar tech at the time:
It's unfortunate to note that the "holocaust" section of You Made Me Realise is now mostly made up of a pink noise generator as the band plays underneath it. No more straight guitar thrashing of the old days.

Fender Blender on Loveless. Maybe a Shin-Ei too, can't recall, but those can be heard on JMC Psychocandy as pointed out. A different sound.

Makes sense since he used original JMI AC-30's for recording.

That may be factually correct, but it sure as hell didn't feel like it at The Roundhouse a few months ago. I felt like I was going to have Jazzmaster-shaped bruises all over my body the next morning. Awesome! :AOK

It's just taken him this long to unplug everything...
Is he maybe counting the entire rig though? Still seems a lot for a shoegazer band.

Reformation contingency rider. They could have just asked for no brown M&M's but this is a 'no kahler floyd rose wankery', jedi guitarist. :)

You guys are right - I was thinking of JMC, but my brain imploded. Didn't Radiohead used the Shinei as well?
