My First 2 Perf Wah Builds

First off, these two builds were lots of fun for me. Thanks to our own TGP member Eric-D for the inspiration to finally pick up my soldering Iron and get after it!

I've had few Castledine inductors and Arteffect inductors around for awhile now and had the urge to try my hand at building a clone of a Clyde McCoy Wah. I sourced nearly all the parts from the "Bay" and wanted to see just how close I could come to the legendary Clyde tone.

I tried to spec all the parts the same just to see how much influence the 2 different Inductors would have on the overall Tone. To my ear the Castledine and Arteffect inductors are VERY close tone-wise to eachother!

With the help of Eric-D, I hope to get some soundclips made by Monday of the two wahs.

Here's some pics of the 2 pedals...

Very sexy!

Any plans to build and sell these?

I have indeed given that some thought...still considering it. I have enough parts to do 2-3 more boards. If I do go ahead I'd have to offer them as "drop-in" kits. You would need to solder the wires to the switches, jacks pot, etc..

I really look forward to getting together with Eric to do those clips manana.

Tight builds. :aok I bet it sounds great too. I have an old Ariel FX inductor in my clyde clone that sounds really nice.
How much did you pay for the tropical fish capacitors ? What transistors did you use ?

The top one looks nice n neat!! Nice work!

Yea, I felt the same way. The bottom one was a little too messy so today I cleaned up the wiring. I like having everything as neat as can be.

Was unable to make it to Erics house today, but hope to get together this week for the clips.
