i had a champ style 1x12 combo built by a local builder, 2 6v6, 2 input with separate 12ax7 and eq 1 for singles and 2 for humbuckers that can combine for an extra gain stage, b/m/t tone stack with pre and master vol, 3 tube fx loop, tweed cab and aging to match the 50s suitcase i use to carry my pedalboard, and a switch that turns on a headphone jack on the back of the cab.

when we were talking about options he asked if i wanted a headphone out for playing at night.

you put the amp on stand-by flip the little switch between the tubes on and jam. its the amp with a different speaker, the headphones.
the louder you turn up the louder it gets not just the same output with more gain. 6 on the master and pre no prob. if you forget and turn the amp on with no headphones and the switch the wrong way it just goes to a big resister, not blow up.

i paid 1k maybe 1200 cant remember. i use it all day and night and my pedals sound great cuz i can turn it up all the time.

why isnt this advertised to bedroom players all the time?

my mesa F-30 has has a silent recording/headphone jack... you need a boost for the overdrive to sound decent... but the cleans are awesome though 'phones.

and to be honest - i've been doing it so long - all my settings are tailored to get better sounds out of the headphones than i can through speaker! it's an adjustment to start pushing real air...

for a guy who plays at least 50% of the time between 5 and 6am with a houseful of sleeping kids - this feature pretty much ensures the F-30 will stay in my collection for quite some time!

This is what im after too. How is the load done with headphones on? The speakers still plugged in? I wish all tube amps had this capability

if i remember right the output to the hp jack was right near the speaker out internally. yes the speaker is still plugged in the switch routs signal between the two. i have a emi wizard in it and dont have to change settings at all when i switch. having the phones on really takes jamming to another level, nothing but guitar. loop something and solo over it, you get lost in it after a bit.
