Ok so my 58' Plain Top came in today. I popped open the case and baam........beauty. So as I'm looking over the guitar, I already have decided I'll find something to gripe about. Wrong! I spend about 5 hours tonight playing her and another hour or two just looking. Wow that PLEK thing really makes for some nice frets. Each fret looks like a clone of the last, I've never seen anything like that before. It weighs just a couple ounces under 9 pounds and the grain is just perfect. Of course, if you find a perfect Gibson its a fake right? Nope, not this one. Guess I lucked out or something.......

I guess this thread is worthless without a picture of this killer guitar... :)

I like the plaintop look. I have a PRS SingleCut with a lot of flame and I'm kind of getting tired of the flame-top look.

Cool guitar, I glad to hear about the lack of quality issues. I'll be looking for pictures when you get some.

Congrats! Still digging mine after many months of ownership, so I'm sure you have a nice journey ahead. Looks like a really nice, subtle burst in that picture: very cool.

Congratuations. I'm another plain top fan. A great flame top is beautiful (like some of the guitars in "Beauty of the Burst"), but some of the flame tops I see around just look gaudy to me. I love my R8.

    Enjoy!! :AOK

I checked one of these VOS's out recently and was quite impressed. The fret work was the best I have seen on a factory Gibson in a long time. It played great, sounded great, and the authentic patina finish looked great. Sounds like Gibson got it right with these. I see one in my future for sure.:RoCkIn
