I pulled these pickups out of an Epiphone Les Paul copy my dad had years ago and they have spent lots of time gathering dust in a box, my dad said the guy who sold the guitar to him said they were Dimarzios but as you can see they have no markings on them so I doubt they are anything other than cheap mass produced pups, but I thought I'd see if anyone recognised them just in case. What do you reckon?

So I'm thinking the lack of response is confirming that these are cheapos rather than some unsung hero of the past that should be saved from the bin... does anyone know if SD ever started out unlabelled?

Those pole pieces look like Dimarzios. Give them a call, worth a shot.

They look like Dimarzios. There are screws missing from the base plate. Can you check how many ohms?

BTW,yes ive seen a dimarzio with a plain base plate. But it was from the 70s. But the base plate could have been messed with too.

That one screw is probably not original

Doesn't really look like a DSD at all. Probably a knockoff of some kind.

The base plate is the same as an early Dimarzio though. In the OP picture

If there is or was a red wire in the picture it would be like a Dimarzio dual sound humbucker.

Early DiMarzios have square feet and braided cable. And says DIMARZIO PICKUPS from '76 on, in ' they added "Made in U.S.A" in '77.

So the knockoff theory still holds strongest me thinks. :)

You probably correct about the knockoff. But I do know a guy who was a studio musician in NYC who has a very early SD with nothing on the base plate.

1975 or older then. Had to do a little investigating when I got an early '80 SD a few years ago :bonk

When I said SD I was talking about Dimarzio Super Distortion. But because of your reading its not a Super Distortion.
