Decided to take a trip to GC today, and I'm sure glad I did. Looked at what I stumbled upon in the used gear section and I ended up walking away with. It's a reissue of course, and I didn't really need it, but I had the extra money, and for what I paid for it, if I decided to sell it down the road, I would easily make my money back, that's how decent of a price I paid for it. Tone-wise, this thing is a monster, the volume on 3-1/2 is good enough for me. I think the tubes are original, I can definitely tell that the preamp tube for the reverb needs to be changed because the reverb does not even get wet until you turn it up past 5. Does anyone know how to find out what year it was produced?

Super Reverb's are awesome. If I had to choose a Fender for my next amp, this one would be the first choice by far. Congrats!

Speakers look like they were made in 2001, 14th week.

Thanks guys, I thought I made out good, but if this bad boy was really made in 2001, then it looks like I made out better than I thought. My first tube amp was an original 65 Super Reverb that I bought for $100 bucks off a friend. Unfortunately I sold it when I was 20 and always regretted it, but hopefully I can hold on to this one for awhile.

Congrats on the NAD tomorrow aleiberman, just remember to post pics.

Best reissue Fender makes (well tied with the '59 Bassman maybe). Good score!

So I mentioned that I might need to replace the reverb preamp tube because the reverb is lacking. Which tube controls the reverb? Actually what preamp tubes control what?

    V1 - 7025/12ax7 - Channel 1
    V2 - 7025/12ax7 - Channel 2
    V3 - 12at7 - Reverb send
    V4 - 7025/12ax7 - 1/2 Reverb Recovery, 1/2 Vibrato
    V5 - 12ax7 - Vibrato
    V6 - 12at7 - Phase Inverter

    V7-8 - 6L6GC - Paired power tubes
    V9 - GZ34 - Rectifier tube

The "reverb" tube that should be replaced to fix your issue is V3. Throw in a good JAN Phillips 12at7 (approximately $18) and call it a day.

Thanks for breaking it down for me. How are JAN Phillips tubes compared to JJ's? I only ask because JJ's have always been my go to tubes.

JAN tubes are fantastic, and it seems like they hold up to the rigors of the world better than the standard fare. For my 12at7 applications they are my first choice. They are reliable, quality builds, with great output, and carry a very reasonable price.

Congrats, I just need a Fender SR and a PR to top of my Fender amp collection.

Playing a SF Super Reverb a few years ago got me into Fender amps and I've owned 7 since and still own 4. Hooked on those Fender cleans and reverb.

    Enjoy that beautiful amp.

What will happen if I put a 12AX7 tube in V3 instead of a 12AT7?

My back spasms just looking at that. Man, those are heavy amps. I have a 67 Pro Reverb that I'm selling because carrying it is a pain. Supers sure are nice, though.

It will overdrive the reverb section and seriously amplify unwanted noises. You could try a 7025, but I would recommend sticking with the stock tube type on this one.
