I play acoustic guitars for church and electric guitars for fun and relaxation at home. But I wrote a lot of songs back when I was single and had hours of time to myself to dream up lyrics and melodies. So with this pandemic keeping me at home, I've been working on recording some in GarageBand. As a result, I've gone from:
A. Which of my guitars are cool and have neat features, fun to just play? to
B. Which of my guitars can sound good, and blend well, with the tracks I'm recording?
I'm also having to adjust how I think about tone. Thick, warm, wide (through modulation and reverb) tones sound great on a single guitar, but in a mix it dominates and muddies everything. With that in mind, here's what I've been gravitating toward recently:
1. Eastman T484 with LollarTrons
2. PRS S2 Studio (2 D-Type single coils and a split-able humbucker)
3. Vox SSC-33 with Bootstrap vintage-wind P90s (switching option removes tone pot from circuit)
These guitars somehow still sound good when panned and EQd, and they still have body in the tone without too much mid-range dominance. That's a very useful balance.
Fender American Pro Strat, PRS Swamp Ash Special, Martin D 35. Waiting on a PRS Silver Sky which probably will take over for the Strat.
1) 2016 Ibanez 2619 Artist Prestige in cherry sunburst
2) 2008 Fender Custom Shop NOS 1961 strat in sonic blue
3) 1961Gibson ES-175D with PAFs
Very close behind is a 1980 Ibanez AS200 with wonderful super 58 pickups
Here are the girls I've been hanging with during this quarantine.
Tom Anderson Cobra S, PRS 408, and PRS 20th Anniversary Custom 24.
Your stuff is simply unbelievable! I need to relocate lol. Every time. Mind blown....
Les Paul Custom
These 2. Have them on Eb (Bb for the 7) with 9.5-48+58 strings as I'm writing some power prog metal and sh1t
Lately, it's been my Tele performer
Then would be my Strat American Special
Probably next would be Either my PRS Torrero, or my Jackson Soloist
My 25/50th looks identical to yours.
Ultra Stratocaster HSS
Some super guitars here, I've really enjoyed this thread!
