Nuttin'--- I stopped drinking all liquors on Aug 3, 1989. Prior to that (and almost exclusively for the year up to that date), my dose when I drank was generally a shot of Meyer's 151* from a pint bottle chased by a swig of (un-iced) Coke mixed with a couple of squeezes of lime and a splash or two of Angostura bitters...pour, swallow, repeat until the pint was gone.

Otherwise it might be a decent mezcal (not that easy back then), chased with a swig of Singha, or Tiger, or (occasionally) a Guinness: Mezcal and stout worked well with each other; while the Tiger and Singha were "clean" and pleasantly scrubbed the lingering mezcal flavor 'til the next shot, the stout "cozied" up to it by adding a dark richness to the smoky taste of the mezcal....in such cases, you can be assured I usually drank more than a pint of mezcal.

VERY very very glad those days are over and done with.

*Except for the higher proof Wild Turkey, most whiskies back then were under-powered---and I wasn't ever really a fan of the taste of most whiskies or most affordably-daily scotches.

Did it always? I was thinking it was a dark brew...mayhap I'm thinking of something else out Moctezuma's old stable.

Dark Mexican beers = Negra Modelo, Bohemia and Noche Buena.....that I know of. At least out of the well-known brands.
