How about the owner of an entertainment franchise that employs people directly and under contract to said franchise? That is, and always has been, the most accurate description of any/all (... insert name of pro sports, music, visual arts, et al) "professional" entertainment endeavors . Guess what? The owner is the owner.
    Yeah, context....

    Bingo..

So, if the current or previous team owners are now governors, what does that make the league? What do we now call the league to describe it within context of team governors? The United Cities of The NBA? The Commissioner is now the President or Prime Minister or Supreme Leader or...?

I think I get the 'ownership' aspect, but it belongs to the franchise and not to individuals who are a part of the franchise by contract who can break contracts, or realign/renegioiate contracts (considered indentured or not), or just plain leave, based on their will and the consequences of the Governors discretion (see, there's still THAT part hanging in there).

    Financial consequences? Sure...

Owners became/are owners of their franchises, just like similar terminology outside of the entertainment industry. None of the owners became owners of their employees. But, don't let that simple concept get to the whole Searchin' For An Outrage industry.

I think I'm slow (I know I'm slow). I'm not understanding (really) what you're saying regarding an outrage industry. Please explain. I'm not BSing you.

How about the simple concept that the NBA can call its owners whatever they want, no matter what other people call them?

And again, that we can call NBA owners whatever we want, no matter what the NBA calls them?

I think it’s kind of silly, but I’m not losing any sleep over it.

All the governors should be forced to change their name to John Brown.

Your argument doesn’t change the fact that he is still the owner, as it is his or her money that was earned to purchase said franchise. Legal contract stating ownership. It is some sjw, virtue signaling bs to equate an employer owning a business with him or her owning the employees.

Go back to playing your kids game for millions of dollars....

He/she owns the team, no matter the make up of said team.

    Which includes all that entails.
