I have a crunch box for the marshallesque stuff, now I need something smooth and liquid sounding for my fargen.

So far a jeckyll and hyde, hao rumble mod, fulldrive 2, and various stock tubescreamers have failed.

    Any suggestions.

    Hi mate,

Have you tried the MI Audio Tube Zone or Blues Pro?

I have owned various el84-based amps and these 2 pedals did extremely well.

I've got four Philips Miniwatt El84s and two Philips 12AX7s. Might be trying a tesla 12ax7 from mike soon.

I'm having outstanding fun with a Bad Cat Xtreme tone with my el84 clean amp. To mix it up I push it either with an OCD or a BB. Makes for lots of versitility and a very liquid lead tone.

I was gonna say that too. If you need just a bit of a kick, his SBEQ can deliver a silky boost as well.

If you still have a stock Tubescreamer hanging around, try the $20 Monte Allums TS-9 mod ... so liquidy your hand will get wet.

boss od-3. I play a peavey classic 50, and so far this sounds the best. It's fairly transparent, not too midrangy, and sounds great. Really cuts through without as much midrange as a tube screamer.

Brian, I've had a Tophat Club Royale that I've tried to mate with various ODs and it's been a bit trickier than with other amps. For example, my old FDII which sounded good with everything did not get along with that amp. For a liquid lead sound here are two that DID work:

    TC Jauernig Gristle King
    MI Audio Tubezone
