PRS guitar...Marshall JMP Master Volume. Need good OD pedal for 80's style metal band. Something high quality. Not too hi gain modern Korn sounding pedal. More Yngwie, Zakk Wylde type overdrive to combine with power tube distortion. Something tight and crunchy with tight bass response. Thanks guys!

methinks that you'll get suggestions for a Crunchbox and a Rat.

The boss sd-1. I just picked one up on an impulse, because they were cheap ($39.00). This is really a great sounding overdrive. It doesn't get heavy as a stand alone distortion, but I would bet that running this into your marshall would be damn impressive. I use a fender deluxe reverb myself, and once I get the volume up to where it starts to break up, the sd-1 just takes it over the edge, without being harsh. It definitely has that 80's sound to it.

Otherwise, my main distortion is a RAT. Cant' get more 80's sounding than that.

Something in the Tube Screamer realm. Tube Screamer, SD-1 or ZW should do.

    crunchbox for pedal alone.

SD-1 i find gets the gain i want but i find it a tad compressed and noisy at higher settings.

Bad monkey as a clean boost to tighten things up. I prefer this to the SD-1. SD-1 for leads though.

Thanks for the opinions guys! I really appreciate it! As far as the MXR ZW pedal goes, I have tried it out and it's just too bright with my rig.

I also tried a plain 'ol BOSS DS1 and it was too much distortion as opposed to overdrive.

I may look into the Crunch Box since it has been getting good reviews from you all! But I'm up for other suggestions.

A Marshall Shredmaster would work great.

Wow...the sound clips of the Purple Plexi pedal sound awesome! One of the best sound clips of a pedal I've ever heard on the net...but I know those can be deceiving...
