Here's the criteria. What is the best IYO; Tube amp combo with 1x12 or 1x10, 5 to 15 watts, $300.00 to maybe $350.00 tops! Oh, and readily available at GC.

This narrows it down to stuff like Fender pro jr/ blues jr or Crate V series
    or??????

what style of music do you play?? seems like the general concensus is the peavey classic 30 or crate v32 (both used of course for your price range)

If you need versatility, perhaps a Fender Super Champ XD is the right choice.

I would look at the Blackheart amps. Not sure if you can get em at Guitar Center though.

Try to find one of the older tweed Pro Juniors, it's a tremendous amplifier for the money. I see them going in the same price range you're looking in...search eBay and GBase.com and you should be able to find one.

I just got a Vibro Champ XD and it is a great little amp. I kept bouncing back and forth between it and a Blues Junior. The XD didn't have the big full Fender clean like the BJ, but it did everything everything else very well. For a toy practice/recording amp it is really good. It also works well with a band when miced.

+1 for Blackheart... I'm planning on picking up a 5w sometime soon... As far as I know, the 5w amps are in stock at GC, but the 15w amps won't be available until August or September.

the ephiphone valve jr is killer. the head/cab deal, not the combo (i guess that breaks the combo qualifier, but it sounds better!). i have tons of good things to say about the fender blues jr as well, but that'll be a craigslist deal for $300 - $350.

Peavey Windsor Studio combo is amazing. You can swap tubes for fun. The Power Sponge is truly cool.

...the best i've tried and owned is the traynor ycv15blue but, sadly, no longer in production. a killer amp if you can find one used.

Digging my blackheart little giant...5 watts...eminescence (sp?) speaker and sounds great...

It truly is a little giant. 5 watt setting can rock pretty hard. Decent amount of clean headroom as well. Just buy it, swap the stock tubes for a JJ ecc81 (preamp) and EL84 (lower grade) in the power section and you're set!

I've owned both. Prefer the cleans on fender and the OD on the Crate. Both very good amps for the money.
