For my solo act / 1-man band gig, I want to add more songs for my acoustic guitar parts of the show. And, I'm thinking more along the lines of songs that people react the most favorably to. It doesn't matter which genre of music. So, if any of you sing and play acoustic guitar out in bars/clubs/restaurants, which songs get the best response from people? Which ones do people usually sing along to or applaud the most for?

    Thanks, in advance, for sharing.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

RTR... I find it hilarious that (despite the fact that I do 5 or 6 country songs) I play none of the songs in your top row (country) and EVERY song in your bottom row (rock).

    Anyone else have suggestions?

That is funny! Here in the southeast, you will play country in most places if you want a crowd. Some great sing-a-longs in the list.

Oh, I'm definitely a huge Eagles fan.

Thank You, Thick As A Brick, Blackbird, Tears In Heaven, Let It Be, Hallelujah. Ive been thinking about working up a few sets of solo acoustic tunes. Those are the ones I've started with.

Get them to sing along. If it's an older crowd, play the Beatles, Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Creedence, etc.

No song suggestions but if you can add a beat to the music it sounds better.
I got a cheep speaker from goodwill and put a piano mic inside with a 1/4" jack.
I just stomp on it and run it through the amp and it really improves the overall experience.

    Try it!

"Brown Eyed Girl" is the acoustic equivalent of "Mustang Sally".

    Just say no.

    Tom Petty American girl.
Tough to do as a solo act, but have seen it done well a couple times.
Solo or whole band, always seems to be a crowd pleaser.
Works for ages 18 to 88.
