Looking for EL84 Chime, either head or small combo, 30 watts or under.

My friend just picked up a Framus Ruby that is really cool, looking for that tone but cheaper.

Any ideas? I will have $650-$750 when I am done selling my other amp. Looking for good quality stuff, but reasonable price. I have no interest in the Vox amps though, don't like how they are put together.

A Ceriatone 18 Watter would be one option.

Traynor YBA-1 doesn't have EL84s but could be a cool head.

    A used Zinky Blue Velvet.

Maybe a used Boogie Lonestar - the old style before they added the single-ended 10 watt option?

Footswitchable 2 channel 2xEL84 (25W) w/reverb and effects loop. You can find them from time to time on eBay and classifieds for under $500 shipped... :AOK

Thanks so far. It doesn't have to be EL84, just anything that can do that half clean/half crunch tone.

give my props to the Black Pearl and the Zinky if you can find one. Same with the Bedrock. Zinky and Bedrock can be harder to find used though. Oh yeah, I really dug the Carvin 15 watter I played. I forget what the name is but it's their vintagey tweed amp. It's got that schwerve going on pretty strong. The one that I played had a V-30 in it though. And a used Reverend, too if you can find it (Although they seem to be getting harder to find, could be just me though). Hope this helps. :0)

    If you can find one:

    1. George Dennis
Blue Beetle Head - 15 watts

    2. Traynor YCV20WR
    Combo - 15 watts

Both of these use EL84's and are in your price range.

YES!!! I got mine used on ebay for $600... the dealers selling the heads with "best offer" allowed, will take $899 for a new one!

This amp is a must try.
