Without getting into the cover band vs originals discussion (fwiw I do both and am happy with that) I'm looking for song suggestions for my British-music-only cover band. We play casinos and larger clubs.

Any British music, from any era, and even though it's not technically 'British' let's include include Irish artists.

Which songs would pack the dance floor and get us more bookings?

    Thanks!

All the above, plus Gerry & the Pacemakers, Searchers, T-Rex, Bowie, Zombies, Slade, Adam Ant (don't laugh!), Gary Glitter ("Rock 'n Roll Pt. 1"), Dave Clark Five.

There are hundreds of choices. Be imaginative.

Blur's "Girls and Boys" usually gets 'em

I also love to do "Pop Scene," though it's not well known outside hardcore Mod / anglophile audiences

Pulp's "Common People" is a good hit to play, along with "Disco 2000"

    big +1 on Zombies

if you can pull off "Love Spreads" by Stone Roses, that's a good dancefloor packer

Thank you for the suggestions received so far.

To clarify a couple of things...

    1) Looking for song suggestions, not artists.

    2) We play in Canada, and so (as much as I would prefer to play more eclectic tunes) songs should be familiar to a Canadian/North American audience.

Keep 'em coming - and thanks again.

Or, Blue Cheer, which was basically the same version. The flip side of the Blue Cheer 45 has a song called 'Out Of Focus', which is a good rocker, too.

    Rory Gallagher
    Camel

If you want them to sit and listen, play the obscure stuff.

    Thanks for this everyone.

Any more suggestions, perhaps a little 'outside the box' this time?

    Cheers!
