I've seen Wilco live a few times. Nels is a great performer and guitarist. Very different and inspiring player.

Never really considered him until I saw a few live clips of Wilco recently. He really has a unique way of playing, very fluid and melodic.

I first heard Nels on a Julius Hemphill record which his brother Alex also played on. I thought he was a very interesting player. I've enjoyed his playing very much through the years and really was kind of surprised at how great his duet recording with Julian lage is. He is a great artist, not just a guitarist.

He's amazing. Probably THE most versatile guitarist I've ever heard.

He can rip through a fuzzed-out solo with Wilco one day, play in a Jazz duo the next, and get into complete artsy rock after.

    Total inspiration listening to him.

Cline and Lage play beautifully together. This is the first time I heard them. Won't be the last.

Catch them live if you can.

I had dinner with both of them in Toronto last tour. If you love jazz, their stories about Jim Hall are fantastic and fascinating.

This is really a great duo that's unique and complimentary and should have a long road to travel creatively over the next few years.

I know that Nels was really looking forward to this pairing and finds it very stimulating creatively.
