I played through it yesterday in the Suhr booth. Sounded Killer through a 4x12 cab. EL34 based which I prefer over EL84's. Lots of clean headroom. I was very, very impressed.

I sat and watched Scott Henderson play a Suhr strat through it with a new Maxon pedal for about a half an hour before the booth filled up. The tone was just unreal and so was Scott. Usually it feels to me like his playing is too "complex for the sake of being complex" but he had it all going on at NAMM -feel, soul, speed, tone - just amazing and the amp sounded absolutely killer.

    There's a new 65 Amps Soho HP 35 watt that runs 4XEL84's

Would love to A/B it against the new Badger.

You won't care when you hear it. It's really a different flavor, IMO, than the 18W Badger... the 30W certainly isn't just a 30W version of the 18W. I have to say that I was really impressed with the VOX/Marshall characteristics that this amp has. A lot of clean headroom, but one aggressive sucker when you start cranking the gain. Definitely one of my top 5 amps I played at the show.

Does the Badger 30 have the power damping like the badger 18?

    Yes, it's called Power Scaling.

I'm wondering if it's DC Power Scaling, does anybody know?

Man, just when I thought I was done buying amps for a while John unleashes this new beast.

Not me! I like way 34 based amps way better than any 84 based amps. The 18 watt Badger is 84 powered anyway. Time for a change.

I thought the 18-watt Badger was pretty cool but I needed a little more headroom. This will probably be a prefect fix.
