I have a new amp and a new guitar, so I thought I would record a brief test clip. The clip is short...about 1:47. While tone is subjective, I would like to hear what some of the members here at TGP think about the clip.

I fully expect some will like it and some will hate it, and that's ok. Just let me know what you think...good or bad.

Thanks for taking some of your time to share your thoughts.

Choose the clip titled "Amp Test 1"

Turn the verb way down, then we'll talk.

Guitar & amp sound good ...
You've got some nice chops under your belt ...

My only critique would be to feel the beat when you're playing lead,
like you do when you're playing rhythm ...

Don't loose your sense of time or tempo when you're playing lead...
Make sure you feel the beat in the same way ...
Otherwise your lead playing will be weaker then your rhythm playing

The verb is a bit wet - wring it out

record dry, and add effects post-pro.

IS that a hot rod deville or DRRI ?

Great sound, very Clapton esque. Sounds like Old love. Reverb is a bit hot but the tone is nice. What is the amp? Effects?

Thanks everyone for the comments so far. I really appreciate all of it. I don't want to reveal the amp, guitar, effects quite yet, because I plan on doing another test clip (with less reverb!). I will say it is a boutique, low wattage amp and the guitar I used has Fender Custom Shop 69 pickups.

Feeling the rhythm/beat and more "choice" phrasing in my lead playing is something I have been trying to improve, so thanks for that comment.

I recently ordered a Shannon Helios overdrive which sounds darn incredible on its own and really fantastic when boosted with a KLON. I have not seen any clips posted yet for that pedal, so I would like to get one posted.

I am right in the middle of writing an article, so my time is limited for the next few days. I should have some time to throw something down and get it posted soon.

I can spot the tone of that amp everytime, so easy...Triple Rectifier!
