Man, where did you score that? That would be a handy accessory around the studio.

eBay! I think there's actually another one there now.

This may be setup for solid state amps that don't need a load. Be careful that you don't set it to a position that does not have a cab connected to it.

A quick Google shows that you can hook up two live tube loads. Idda know, for the price, I don't think I would trust a live amp on it.

This is a later model that allowed tube amps on all 8.

Also, worth noting, I don't ever switch things around while amps are on.

It's really just to save me from plugging and unplugging.

Wow. Interesting! I could totally see how convenient that would be if you had a number of heads. More inclined to use them more.

The one on ebay right now only handles 2 tube amps.

    ^^^^

Important distinction. The one that supports 8 tube amps seems to be rarer than the 2.

I waited until I found the one that explicitly said it supported tubes on all inputs, silkscreened on the back like my photo.

I've got the one that allows two speaker cabs at the same time, so clicking the second to a shorted wire, then the first to the desired cab then the shorted one back to open is a safe way to do it. I was concerned about running 100w amps thru a switcher until I took it apart-BIG ceramic switches in there, higher current carrying than anything inside the amp. That said, it takes a LOT of wire to hook up 16 heads and 8 cabinets, I took it all apart when I did a remodel and I'm not sure I'm up to doing it all again :(

Those were great. When I worked at an ampeg dealer in the 90s we had one. Held up to svt classics with no issue.

Gotta say. It's super great not having to plug and unplug. I have 6 heads, 3 of which I rotate through a lot, and it's so convinient now.

There it is on its side to the right of the cab...
