Thanks! So it showed up this afternoon and I've got about two hours in on it. My first impression is that Matt (and the other contributors, Bill Megela who did the pickups & wiring, and Cue Gerhards who did the finish) surpassed my (very lofty) expectations by a long damn way. After about an hour of getting acquainted and learning how things work, I cut loose and let it rip. At volume. Between the two ports and the custom wiring, the guitar gives me a huge palette of usable sounds, all of which I really like. What was most surprising though, given the spruce top and the fact that it's definitely a hollow guitar, it totally held together at volume. Fuzz? No problem. Lead channel on my K&M? Lovely. Left me thinking, why would I even need a solidbody guitar? It was totally gratifying to sit there with a guitar that gives voice to all these things I've been accumulating from playing all the great guitars in my woodpile and thinking, yeah that's great but if it only did THIS... ...I was able to just let go and play in a way that I almost never do because there's always something just out of reach with whatever guitar I'm working with at the time. Not so with this one -- everything I reached for was within my grasp. Wow. Obviously it will take a fair amount of experience with it before I really know what I've got, but as of this moment I'm pretty damn happy.
